Technique Tuesday CASing

Today’s Technique is CASing. What is CASing? Copy And Share.

The card I’m sharing today I CASed straight from the sale-a-brations catalogue although I had to change it a little to suit my needs as I did not have  the ColorBox Chalk Ink Pads. These inks were not on my high priority list when I put in my pre-order. (Another great benefit of being a demonstrator is you get to see and use all the products before everyone else even if you’re only a hobby demonstrator so contact me if you’d like to find out more information on becoming a demonstrator.)

Jessica’s sports day- a scrapbooking page

For me the most important thing about scrapbooking is the journaling. I want my kids to know their story and the story of our lives. I don’t really enjoy looking at scrapbooking pages without journaling. Maybe it is the voyeur in me that likes to read other people’s story? I don’t know but I know reading their story helps me to connect with them a little.

This is a journal heavy layout. It is a layout I love and as most of you know I’m not really a fan of my handwriting but I am a fan of our stories.

Of course you’re going to need some close ups.

2015-01-03 Layouts for Blog 025

See what I mean about journaling. Messy writing but I’ve told her story. I left out her teacher’s name because I don’t have her permission to publish it.

2015-01-03 Layouts for Blog 028

Such a simple layout but gosh I’m happy with it. I’m also so proud of my darling Jessica and her commitment to having a go and having fun.

The products can be found at my online store or by contacting me to make a purchase. If ordering in January make sure you use the hostess code NC9TAQRD so you can go in the draw for my monthly prize.

Don’t forget sale-a-bration starts on the 6th of January. Every $90 you spend enables you to choose a free item from the sale-a-bration catalogue. Items range from stamp sets to patterned paper to blendabilities. To find out more please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Masculine cards

Do you have trouble creating cards for the men in your life? I know I do. It’s one of the most challenging crafty things I do. My husband likes the cards to be very simple, very square and without fuss. Why not come along to my class on the 19th of December where we’ll make some cards for the men in your life as well as a whole heap of other cards as well.

2014-09-16 masculine cards 001

This was an extremely simple card to create.

Cut a standard card base using Naturals White cardstock, I find this much better for masculine cards as it isn’t as harsh as Whisper White, with a top layer of Naturals White  measuring 10cm x 14.3cm.

Using World Maps  or a similar background stamp, stamp onto the top layer using Basic Grey ink.

Distress the edges of the top layer by using the edge of your scissors at a 90 angle and rubbing vigorously.

Further distress the edge by adding Crumbed Cake ink to the edge.

Using Memento ink stamp feathers from Four Feathers all the way along one edge of the card.

Finally stamp you sentiment along the bottom of the top layer.

This is not a standards size card for Australia although it still fits into our C6 envelopes. The Hexagon Hives die creates this beautiful background. I just stamped the Four Feathers stamp set over the whisper white in Lost lagoon, smoky slate and hello honey then added a few of the feather onto of the Hexagon Hives die cut out. Super easy.

This robot card is a CASe of a card in the catalogue however I did change it slightly based on the cardstock and supplies I had at home. Don’t forget to substitute from the example for what you have. The original  is on page 86 of the catalogue for those of you playing at home.

These are very easy cards to make. If you would like any further information about these cards or attending classes please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Until next time, happy crafting.

Project Life Christmas

Are you  preparing for Christmas? Have you created your layouts for last year? If you’re like me you’re running a bit behind schedule. Project Life offers the perfect solution. It is a quick and easy way to get your memories into an album.

My pages are all really simple because I have 5 children to create pages for as well as doing our family album. I also love to scrapbook traditionally and that is my main focus. I want to dedicate as much time as possible to traditional scrapbooking. If I can do Project Life with 5 kids you can give it a go too. Imagine the memories you’ll be able to leave your children.

This is a page about our Christmas traditions on the first Sunday of Advent.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 045

Last year we had my daughter’s kindy graduation. As the journaling says, when did that begin to happen? I know it is the next phase of education but seriously.

Petite petals card

This is the card the participants at a recent workshop completed. It is very simple but very effective.  If you would like to make a card like this why not book a workshop with your friends? It’s easy, you gather your friends and I come along and teach you how to do it. Instructions are included below.

2014-11-13 workshop cards 009

This simple card was created with a whisper white card base, a strip of whisper white (5cmx10.5cm), a strip of strawberry slush cardstock (5.5cm x 10.5cm), and a strip of paper to stamp the 3D flowers on.

1. Emboss the whisper white card base with the woodgrain embossing folder.

2. On your small strip of whisper white stamp one of the petite petals stamps all over, making sure some of your image goes off the edge of the whisper white.

3. Adhere the stamped whisper white to the strawberry slush cardstock then adhere this to the card base.

4. Stamp one flower from petite petals, flower shop, and beautiful bunch.

5. Using the co-ordinating punches punch these flowers out. Petitie petals punch, pansy punch and fun flower punch.

6. Use your thumb to curl the flower petal up. This is achieved by pulling your thumb from the centre of the flower to the edge of the petal. The more dimension you create the more realistic they look.

7. Adhere the 3 flowers to each other using dimensionals.

If you have any questions or would like to book a workshop please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Until next time, happy crafting.

Christmas Project Life

Are you enjoying all the Christmas projects? You will have arrived from Paula and her fantastic project.

I’ve been doing Project Life for many, many years now. I love to document Christmas time because for us it is a time of tradition and a very special time in our family.

I used the Seasonal Snapshot Project Life card collection and the Seasonal Snapshot Project Life Accessory Pack to complete these pages. The only other items I added were the Festival of Trees bundle to add a bit of detail to my Christmas tree pages, the Handheld Stapler because I just love the look of the staples and they fit really well with the school pages I had to do.

These first pages I kept very simple showing you how easy Project Life can be.

I thought I would include a close up of my journaling just to show the different ways you can journal.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 021

Here I used StazOn to add the day to the photo. I love StazOn. It is a fantastic ink. Just make sure you clean your stamps properly after use and don’t use your Stampin’ Scrub to clean off the StazOn .

This stamp and matching punch is stuck with fast fuse to the outside of the pocket.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 024

I am thinking I should do a review of the Project Life Journaling Pens because over the years I have used a lot of different pens to journal with. These are fantastic and I love that you get 2 different sizes in the pack. They just write so well.

Here I have used the So Social stampset and a card from the kit which I didn’t want to use. I cut the card into banners after I stamped the words. Don’t be afraid to alter or cut up your cards.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 026

I added the staples from the Handheld Stapler to the banners and a dimensional under the banner end to give it some dimension and give the appearance of real banners.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 030

Here is the Festival of Tree bundle in use to add a little detail to a simple Project Life card. Don’t you just love a coordinating stampset and punch?

2014-09-27 project life christmas 037

2014-09-27 project life christmas 039

I kept these pages fairly simple because I have a lot of photos from Christmas and December last year and I have 6 Project Life albums to complete for that period. This year I plan on being prepared and doing a December Daily album using the new 6×8’ album and getting most of it completed before December begins that way with the rush of the crazy season I will be up to date.

Now head on over to Ria’s blog.

I don’t think people acknowledge others enough in our society. I made this quick card one night for my eldest daughter because she helped me out. Hollie had only just turned 8. It was a busy evening (aren’t they all when you have young kids?) and I hadn’t had time to get the washing off the line. I was cooking dinner. My darling husband wasn’t home. I wasn’t getting flustered. The kids were nagging because they were hungry and were fighting with each other because, hey that’s what you do at the end of the day and you just want to go to bed. Hollie, seeing me a little flustered and knowing I wanted to get the washing off the line, offered to take the washing in for me. Isn’t that just so sweet?

2014-08-05 HJs thank you card 001

Hollie loves creating. Hollie loves praise. I left this outside her room so she could see it when she got up. Nothing special but the sentiment was what was special. She loved it and even now thinking about her taking the washing off the line for me makes me smile. What a lovely girl.

To create this card you will need:

Whisper white card stock

Blackberry Bliss cardstock and ink.

Scalloped edge punch

Hearts border punch

Big News for the sentiment and the hearts in the background.
