ESAD bloghop sale-a-bration

Today is my birthday so the perfect day to celebrate some fun and versatile stamp sets from the ocassion and sale-a-bration catalogues.

We have some really amazing products in this year’s sale-a-bration catalogue. I’ve created these 2 cards using the same sketch. One card using the occasions catalogue products and another using the sale-a-bration set

We have some fabulous bloggers in the ESAD group. Thanks for your great post Nicole.

This card was created for my daughter, Lisa, who turned 7 on New Year’s Eve. We tell her she is lucky that she gets fireworks on her birthday every year. This year we gave her the first Harry Potter book because she has seen her 3 sisters read them, role play about the books and be slightly obsessed about them. So in keeping with the theme of her birthday I created a card using the ….. set which is perfect for the Harry Potter theme.

One of my daughter’s has a friend whose birthday it is today as well so Jasmine also received a card from me because we a birthday buddies.

Thanks for stopping by. Keep hopping and if you get lost don’t forget to follow the list below.

Craft retreat

Each year I run two craft retreats. Ever wanted to spend a whole weekend crafting and eating amazing food? My craft retreat is for you. The next one is coming up in April (27th to 29th) and will be a fabulous time away as always.

Each retreat we have regulars come back and newbies arrive and everyone is always so welcoming and friendly. It is such a great atmosphere.

Here’s alittle snapshot of the retreat and what you can expect from the April retreat.

Everyone had a beautiful name tag. Some people used them as accents on projects or kept them with their others from previous years.

I always take a few jackets and even a knee rug because I ALWAYS get cold. If you always get hot make sure you ask to be positioned under the air con. All rooms (craft and sleeping) are air conditioned.

Kirsten’s project space. She had ideas from pinterest she wanted to created and achieved all her craft retreat goals by going in with a plan.

Everyone busy making things. Don’t we all take too much “stuff” to these things. I think the 3 people who created the most scrapbook pages or cards were those who didn’t bring much and had things a little planned out. Kits made or bought. Something to think about for those of you who bring everything.

Of course there has to be a kind of tricky card to complete. Stay tuned for the video of this card.

The retreat cost, $260, covers all food (morning and afternoon tea, main meals as well as supper) and accommodation, welcome pack, gifts, prizes and between 3 and 5 make and takes. Registration is essential and deposits or a payment plan are required to be in place by the end of January. Some ladies pay their retreat off at $25 per fortnight. Please contact me for more information on registration and payment.

We would love to see you there and enjoy your company for the weekend.

Monday Memories – Today

Monday Memories is back. My goal is to post a layout from the weekend every Monday. Who is going to help keep me accountable?

Another one of my goals is to use up my stash. You should see my scrap room. It is soooo full of supplies, paper especially. Let’s use it up.

This layout called Today was one of my favourite layouts of recent times. It was a lot of fun to do.

Just texture paste over a mask then dripping the re-inkers down the page.

Masculine cards

Do you have trouble creating cards for the men in your life? I know I do. It’s one of the most challenging crafty things I do. My husband likes the cards to be very simple, very square and without fuss. Why not come along to my class on the 19th of December where we’ll make some cards for the men in your life as well as a whole heap of other cards as well.

This was an extremely simple card to create.

Cut a standard card base using Naturals White cardstock, I find this much better for masculine cards as it isn’t as harsh as Whisper White, with a top layer of Naturals White  measuring 10cm x 14.3cm.

Using World Maps  or a similar background stamp, stamp onto the top layer using Basic Grey ink.

Distress the edges of the top layer by using the edge of your scissors at a 90 angle and rubbing vigorously.

Further distress the edge by adding Crumbed Cake ink to the edge.

Using Memento ink stamp feathers from Four Feathers all the way along one edge of the card.

Finally stamp you sentiment along the bottom of the top layer.

This is not a standards size card for Australia although it still fits into our C6 envelopes. The Hexagon Hives die creates this beautiful background. I just stamped the Four Feathers stamp set over the whisper white in Lost lagoon, smoky slate and hello honey then added a few of the feather onto of the Hexagon Hives die cut out. Super easy.

This robot card is a CASe of a card in the catalogue however I did change it slightly based on the cardstock and supplies I had at home. Don’t forget to substitute from the example for what you have. The original  is on page 86 of the catalogue for those of you playing at home.

These are very easy cards to make. If you would like any further information about these cards or attending classes please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Until next time, happy crafting.
