Card in a box class

These cards were created last year, for a class I ran last year. Laziness has prevented me from posting these pictures but here they finally are. This wasn’t quite a stamp-a-stack class. Participants made 10 cards, two of each card (although the 5th card is missing because I’ve already sent it).

2015-03-03 card box class 003

This is such a simple card. I love, love, love stampsets with matching punches or dies. Petitie petal stamp and punch and the wonderous wreath stampset and dies made this card so easy to create.

I think this is one of my favourite cards in a long time. It is so simple and so stunning. Again the matching stampset and punch make this card so effective. Three flower stamp sets and three matching punches, flower shop,

OCC SAB 2015 ESAD BLOG HOP-001

Welcome to the ESAD blog hop. We have amazingly talented demonstrators in Australia and New Zealand. Make sure you leave some love as you hop around. Rachael sent you this way. Isn’t she amazing?

As most of you know I’m obsessed with Project Life. That’s why when they were available for free as a sale-a-bration item I just had to get them. Having 5 kids Project Life is the perfect way to easily document their stories. This is part of Hannah’s album. I found a packet of photos which was labelled HGK Feb 2014! Well sorry, poor neglected middle child but at least it is done now thanks to these freebies from sale-a-bration.

2015-02-15 project Life blog hop 001

This was a really simple layout. There was quite a bit of story to tell. There wasn’t much need for decoration or embellishment. What was needed was to show the photos and tell the story.

2015-02-15 project Life blog hop 003

For me, Project Life and scrapbooking is all about the stories that’s why I’ve included close ups of the stories. I LOVE reading other people’s stories. I love the insight into other’s worlds. Imagine the thrill my grandchildren or my great great nephew will get at seeing my hand writing in years to come.

2015-02-15 project Life blog hop 005

This was another really simple layout. Just a bit of stamping to add some detail and some letter stickers from the Love Story Project Life accessory kit.

Here I stamped with StazOn on the page protector. That’s a bit of fun. I was inspired by my mini album I made and am show casing on my blog tomorrow.

I’ve also added some stamping “good times” down the side of the journaling card just to add a bit of detail. The letter stickers are again from “Love Story” Project Life accessory kit and the stamping “love” is from the occasions catalogue.

I have mentioned before using Photosheet which is a free program to make photo collages. I frequently use this program when I print of phone photos or I have multiples of the same event but I can’t decide which picture to print. It is a really easy program to use. It is a drag and drop program and very useful for Project Life.

There aren’t any embellishments of this page except the banner on the top photo. This is what I love about Project Life- the cards are decorated enough that you don’t need to add embellishments if you don’t want to. Just the stories and you don’t even have to write as much as me. If you haven’t tried Project Life I implore you to give it a go. Use this mini kit which is a freebie with your $90 purchase during sale-a-bration. You can’t go wrong.

You’ll notice the last two pages have had close ups of me. This is because I would have loved to have more photos of my Mum. She was always the one taking photos and was so rarely in the photographs unless my older brother took them.  Make sure you take photos of yourself and include them in your album. Trust me, you’ll look back and think, ‘Wasn’t I young then,’ or ‘Gosh, I was so pretty then.’ Let yourself be part of the memories of your family.

Thank you for reading my stories. I hope I have inspired you to give Project Life a go. Enjoy the rest of the blog hop and be sure to leave some comments as you go around. Why not subscribe to the blogs as you visit them. We all love new subscribers.

Monday Memories- Sale-a-bration scrapbooking layout

What is sale-a-bration? Sale-a-bration is Stampin’ Up!’s annual giveaway. For every $90 you spend you get to pick a free item from the sale-a-bration catalogue. There are stamps, specialty papers, Designer Series Papers and even blendabilities to earn for free this year! I’m just blown away.

Every year I think sale-a-bration is better than the year before. This year is no exception. Just wait until you see what you can earn for free.

You will love the simplicity of this page I’m sharing today. You will love that it was complete using sale-a-bration DSP and one of the stamp sets.

2015-01-03 Layouts for Blog 029

This DSP is called Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper #138633 and is available for free when you spend $90 as is the stamp set featured in this layout is call Best Day Ever and is available in 3 different stamp types. Wood #139091                Clear #139094 Photopolymer #139149

There is even a button and ribbon set for free which co-ordinates perfectly with this DSP set. I CASed this layout directly from the catalogue. To me it is prefect so I didn’t see any need to change it up too much.

I absolutely love the Best. Day. Ever. stamp set. I will be using it so much in my scrapbooking and in my project life. It’s awesome.

Project Life Birthday spread

Last year my little, or should I say younger sister?, turned 21. Such a special time in the life of a young person. I’m so glad she decided to have a quiet celebration with family.

Very simple. Only a bit of washi tape and a heart punches out. Simple yet effective and the memories are recorded. Yay.

Masculine cards

Do you have trouble creating cards for the men in your life? I know I do. It’s one of the most challenging crafty things I do. My husband likes the cards to be very simple, very square and without fuss. Why not come along to my class on the 19th of December where we’ll make some cards for the men in your life as well as a whole heap of other cards as well.

2014-09-16 masculine cards 001

This was an extremely simple card to create.

Cut a standard card base using Naturals White cardstock, I find this much better for masculine cards as it isn’t as harsh as Whisper White, with a top layer of Naturals White  measuring 10cm x 14.3cm.

Using World Maps  or a similar background stamp, stamp onto the top layer using Basic Grey ink.

Distress the edges of the top layer by using the edge of your scissors at a 90 angle and rubbing vigorously.

Further distress the edge by adding Crumbed Cake ink to the edge.

Using Memento ink stamp feathers from Four Feathers all the way along one edge of the card.

Finally stamp you sentiment along the bottom of the top layer.

2014-09-16 masculine cards 010

This is not a standards size card for Australia although it still fits into our C6 envelopes. The Hexagon Hives die creates this beautiful background. I just stamped the Four Feathers stamp set over the whisper white in Lost lagoon, smoky slate and hello honey then added a few of the feather onto of the Hexagon Hives die cut out. Super easy.

2014-09-16 masculine cards 014

This robot card is a CASe of a card in the catalogue however I did change it slightly based on the cardstock and supplies I had at home. Don’t forget to substitute from the example for what you have. The original  is on page 86 of the catalogue for those of you playing at home.

These are very easy cards to make. If you would like any further information about these cards or attending classes please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Until next time, happy crafting.

Project Life Christmas

Are you  preparing for Christmas? Have you created your layouts for last year? If you’re like me you’re running a bit behind schedule. Project Life offers the perfect solution. It is a quick and easy way to get your memories into an album.

My pages are all really simple because I have 5 children to create pages for as well as doing our family album. I also love to scrapbook traditionally and that is my main focus. I want to dedicate as much time as possible to traditional scrapbooking. If I can do Project Life with 5 kids you can give it a go too. Imagine the memories you’ll be able to leave your children.

This is a page about our Christmas traditions on the first Sunday of Advent.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 045

Last year we had my daughter’s kindy graduation. As the journaling says, when did that begin to happen? I know it is the next phase of education but seriously.

Petite petals card

This is the card the participants at a recent workshop completed. It is very simple but very effective.  If you would like to make a card like this why not book a workshop with your friends? It’s easy, you gather your friends and I come along and teach you how to do it. Instructions are included below.

2014-11-13 workshop cards 009

This simple card was created with a whisper white card base, a strip of whisper white (5cmx10.5cm), a strip of strawberry slush cardstock (5.5cm x 10.5cm), and a strip of paper to stamp the 3D flowers on.

1. Emboss the whisper white card base with the woodgrain embossing folder.

2. On your small strip of whisper white stamp one of the petite petals stamps all over, making sure some of your image goes off the edge of the whisper white.

3. Adhere the stamped whisper white to the strawberry slush cardstock then adhere this to the card base.

4. Stamp one flower from petite petals, flower shop, and beautiful bunch.

5. Using the co-ordinating punches punch these flowers out. Petitie petals punch, pansy punch and fun flower punch.

6. Use your thumb to curl the flower petal up. This is achieved by pulling your thumb from the centre of the flower to the edge of the petal. The more dimension you create the more realistic they look.

7. Adhere the 3 flowers to each other using dimensionals.

If you have any questions or would like to book a workshop please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Until next time, happy crafting.

Christmas Project Life

Are you enjoying all the Christmas projects? You will have arrived from Paula and her fantastic project.

I’ve been doing Project Life for many, many years now. I love to document Christmas time because for us it is a time of tradition and a very special time in our family.

I used the Seasonal Snapshot Project Life card collection and the Seasonal Snapshot Project Life Accessory Pack to complete these pages. The only other items I added were the Festival of Trees bundle to add a bit of detail to my Christmas tree pages, the Handheld Stapler because I just love the look of the staples and they fit really well with the school pages I had to do.

These first pages I kept very simple showing you how easy Project Life can be.

I thought I would include a close up of my journaling just to show the different ways you can journal.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 021

Here I used StazOn to add the day to the photo. I love StazOn. It is a fantastic ink. Just make sure you clean your stamps properly after use and don’t use your Stampin’ Scrub to clean off the StazOn .

This stamp and matching punch is stuck with fast fuse to the outside of the pocket.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 024

I am thinking I should do a review of the Project Life Journaling Pens because over the years I have used a lot of different pens to journal with. These are fantastic and I love that you get 2 different sizes in the pack. They just write so well.

Here I have used the So Social stampset and a card from the kit which I didn’t want to use. I cut the card into banners after I stamped the words. Don’t be afraid to alter or cut up your cards.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 026

I added the staples from the Handheld Stapler to the banners and a dimensional under the banner end to give it some dimension and give the appearance of real banners.

2014-09-27 project life christmas 030

Here is the Festival of Tree bundle in use to add a little detail to a simple Project Life card. Don’t you just love a coordinating stampset and punch?

2014-09-27 project life christmas 037

2014-09-27 project life christmas 039

I kept these pages fairly simple because I have a lot of photos from Christmas and December last year and I have 6 Project Life albums to complete for that period. This year I plan on being prepared and doing a December Daily album using the new 6×8’ album and getting most of it completed before December begins that way with the rush of the crazy season I will be up to date.

Now head on over to Ria’s blog.

Stampin’ Up! blocks

One of the things that got me hooked on Stampin’ Up! was the amazing blocks for the clear stamps. I had never held another stamp block in my hands and have it feel so right.

2013-07-15 Stampin' Up! blocks 015

They have been designed so the contour of the along the side fits perfectly in you fingers. They are really amazing. I love them. Here is me holding block D.

They come in a variety of sizes but if I was going to recommend a starting size I would Block E would be the best as if fits most stamps onto it and is reasonably priced at $19.95. If you are looking at a bundle to start with I would recommend the Clear-mount Starter Bundle as it contains 3 blocks and comes with a 15% discount.
